White Chocolate Matcha Cookies

White Chocolate Matcha Cookies

Soft, chewy and perfectly balanced with earthy matcha and sweet white chocolate – these cookies are a matcha made in heaven.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

If you’re a fan of matcha, these cookies are a must-try. The earthy, slightly bitter flavour of matcha powder pairs beautifully with the creamy sweetness of white chocolate. The result is a cookie that’s soft in the middle, crisp on the edges, and just different enough to stand out from the usual cookie crowd.

They’re easy to make, quick to bake, and they look just as good as they taste – a soft green hue with golden edges and melty white chocolate chunks throughout.

Ingredients:

  • 120g unsalted butter, softened
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 180g plain flour
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp milk powder or whole milk
  • White chocolate chunks or chips (measure with your heart)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 170°C or 350°F and line two baking trays with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing until just combined.

  6. Fold in the white chocolate chunks.

  7. Scoop out tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls. Place on the tray with space in between – they will spread slightly.

  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just turning golden. The centres will still be soft but will firm up as they cool.

  9. Let them cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Baking Tips:

  • Use high-quality matcha powder – it makes a difference in colour and flavour.

  • Chill the dough for 15–30 minutes if you want thicker, puffier cookies.

These white chocolate matcha cookies are ideal for anyone looking to try something a little different from the usual chocolate chip routine. Whether you’re baking for yourself, a matcha-loving friend, or just want a cookie that’s got a little colour and character, this recipe won’t disappoint.
