They’re versatile, quick to make, and the flavours are absolutely mouthwatering.

Let’s dive into this recipe that’s sure to be a hit with your friends and family.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb/500 grams of ground chicken

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tbsp baharat spice blend or tandoori masala spice blend

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp ground paprika

  • 1 tbsp ground coriander

  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/4 red onion chopped

  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh mint

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. First, take a bowl and add in your ground chicken.

  2. Chop the onion finely and add to the chicken along with the lemon juice.

  3. Add in the fresh chopped cilantro and mint.

  4. Next, add in all your spices.

  5. Mix the chicken with your hands and work in the spices, onion, and cilantro. Make sure it is all incorporated well. Your meat should change in colour from the spices added. (if you can, let this sit in the fridge for 1 hr before cooking to help the flavours marinate)

  6. Once you are ready to place your kebabs in the oven. Preheat the oven to 375-400F or 190-200C so that the oven is ready for your chicken.

  7. Take your hands and make logs with the chicken mixture by firmly pressing it together in the palms of your hands. Place these chicken kebabs onto a greased pan and cook in the oven for about 18 minutes (time depends on how thick your kebabs are).

  8. Once cooked, remove the kebabs from the oven and serve them hot with a side of fresh flatbreads, rice, or a cool yogurt sauce. For an extra kick, drizzle a little bit of tahini or your favourite chutney on top!

Pair your kebabs with a refreshing side salad, a creamy tzatziki sauce, or some fluffy couscous for a well-rounded meal. You can also serve them with grilled corn on the cob or a citrusy quinoa salad for extra flavour.
